The LMT Onsrud 60-090 Series is a solid carbide 3-edge lock mortising bit for cutting lock and hardware mortises in solid wood, plywood and panel goods on CNC routers.
Runs much slower than a hogger — check your feed
Lock mortising bits are not roughing tools. Onsrud publishes chip loads of roughly 0.003″–0.007″ per tooth for this series, which is around three to four times lighter than the 60-000 hogger and chipbreaker bits of the same diameter. Running mortising feeds at hogger rates is a common cause of premature tool failure. The feeds & speeds table on this page shows the correct published values for this tool.
