Aluminum and other non-ferrous metals — brass, copper, copper alloys — need a bit designed around chip evacuation more than almost any other material here. Aluminum is soft enough to cut quickly but gummy enough to weld itself back onto a bit that isn't clearing chips fast, which is what causes heat buildup and a ruined edge mid-cut.

Solid carbide construction with geometry optimized for non-ferrous metal handles sheet, plate, and extrusion stock, plus aluminum composite material (ACM) panels common in sign and metal fabrication work.

Bit diameter and flute count matter more here than on wood — if you're not sure which configuration fits your material thickness, tell us the application and we'll point you to the right one.
