For composite and wood-composite work, Onsrud's compression-style bits cut from both directions at once: the upward-spiraling lower flutes and downward-spiraling upper flutes press fibers inward from the top and bottom surfaces simultaneously, which is what keeps edges clean and chip-free on materials that would otherwise tear out under a standard up-cut or down-cut bit.
