The 63-600 is Onsrud's single-flute upcut O-flute for aluminum. It's built for sheet and block work on high-speed CNC routers.
One flute leaves a large chip pocket. The polished O-flute and upcut spiral lift chips out of the cut, which matters in aluminum: chips that stay in the slot get re-cut, weld to the edge and ruin both the finish and the tool. Use air blast or mist to keep the slot clear.
Where it fits
- Aluminum sheet and plate: profiling, pocketing and cut-outs in sign blanks, panels and machine guards.
- Aluminum block: pocketing and contouring where chips have to come up and out of a deep cut.
- Plastics: use the 63-700, which is Onsrud's version of this geometry for hard plastics.
Choosing a size
Stocked in 21 sizes, from 1/16" to 1/2" cutting diameter (plus a 10 mm metric version) and 1/4" to 1-3/8" cut length, on 1/8" to 1/2" shanks. Pick the shortest cut length that clears your material: a shorter flute is stiffer, deflects less and holds size better.
