How to use it

O-flute bits are made for plastics. The polished, open flute carries chips away from the cut before they can re-melt and weld back onto the edge, which is what leaves a gummy, frosted finish. This two-flute version takes twice the feed per revolution of a single O-flute, so it suits production runs in acrylic, PVC, polycarbonate, HDPE and other sign and fabrication plastics. These are CNC-only bits, meant for machines with powered feed. Run a chip load heavy enough to make chips, not dust. Too slow a feed is the most common cause of melted edges in plastic.

Other sizes in this range: Amana 51761 (1/8 in. dia., 1/2 in. cut, 1/8 in. shank), Amana 51762 (1/8 in. dia., 1/2 in. cut, 1/4 in. shank), Amana 51766 (1/8 in. dia., 3/4 in. cut, 1/4 in. shank), Amana 51782 (1/8 in. dia., 1/2 in. cut, 1/4 in. shank).
