How to use it
A roundover bit eases a square edge into a smooth quarter-round of a set radius. It is the most-used edge profile on furniture, cabinet doors, shelving and signs, and it makes edges more comfortable and less likely to chip. A bearing below the cutter rides the edge of the workpiece and sets the profile, so no fence is needed on curved parts. If you raise the bit past the end of the radius, it leaves a small step above the curve, called a bead or fillet. The 4-flute versions give a smoother finish at a given feed. The miniature bits use a 3/16 in. bearing to reach into tight inside curves. For large radii, use a 1/2 in. shank in a router table and take the profile in two or more passes.
